Getting to Cabarete

Are you ready to plan your visit to Cabarete? Excellent! If you can, we suggest purchasing a flight to Puerto Plata International Airport, which is the airport located closest to Cabarete, just a 25 minute drive away. If you fly to Santiago, Santo Domingo or Punta Cana International Airports, please review our information on how to travel to Cabarete from there.

Entry Requirements

Entry into the Dominican Republic requires at least a valid Passport and/or a Tourist Visa depending your nationality. Requirements do change often so make sure to check everything with your travel agent before departure. Some flights will include the Tourist Visa in the cost of your ticket. If yours does not, you will have to purchase one upon your arrival for US$10 (travelers checks are not accepted). Minimal information about yourself and your visit is required and you will be provided with a copy of this form to give back to Customs & Immigration when you depart the country.

Travel Tip

When researching your flight, you may be encouraged to fly to another city, Santo Domingo for example, because the flight cost is cheaper. This may seem cheaper at the start but you have to make sure you consider the extra travel costs and time to get from there to Cabarete. Staying over night in a hotel because of a late arrival, taking taxis, buses, or an additional flight, can add to your costs and travel time quite quickly. Please consult our maps of the Dominican Republic to help orient yourself with the distances between Cabarete and other cities.

Your Departure

Before leaving Cabarete, it's always wise to phone and have your flight confirmed and check if it's departing on time. Make sure you check-in at least 1 hour prior to departure for domestic flights and 3 hours prior to departure for international flights.

Once you reach Customs & Immigration they will ask for the copy of your Tourist Visa you were provided on arrival. If you do not have this copy, don't fret too much, it will just mean purchasing a new one for US$10.
