Event Overview
The 2009 Cabarete Classic will take place on Cabarete Beach in front of Vela Resorts in the center of town.
The Cabarete Classic is a four-day long event offering racing and freestyle categories for competitors of all ages and abilities.
• Categories: Mini-Juniors; Juniors; Slalom and Formula in both Sport and Open classes; Women’s Slalom; a Business Class (for local business owners) and a Freestyle competition.
• The Cabarete Classic incorporates Pablito Guzman’s Watersports Team.
• The Butterfly Effect, which will be held on July 22, is a non-competitive event promoting women and ocean sports.
• A unique one-day long distance event, beginning in Cabarete and ending in Puerto Plata, designed for top racers from around the world.

The Butterfly Effect brings women together for noncompetitive ocean sport gatherings in coastal cities all over the world. The aim is to instill self-confidence and a love for the ocean in women of all skill levels.
All the talented local and visiting ladies will gather together and complete a fun downwinder from Cabarete Bay to Playa Encuentro.
Open to Windsurfers, Kitesurfers, Surfers and Stand Up Paddlers.
